Filmed in Ireland, the Nicolas Cage-starring post-apocalyptic thriller Arcadian is released next week – take a look here.

Directed by Benjamin Brewer (director of The Trust, lead visual effects designer of Everything Everywhere All At Once), Arcadian sees Oscar winner Cage joined by young stars Jaeden Martell (It and It: Chapter TwoKnives OutMidnight Special), Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in SpaceReacherSense8) and Sadie Soverall (SaltburnLittle Bone Lodge and Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga).

Arcadian was mostly filmed around Ashford and Kilpedder, Co Wicklow and in the Garden County’s Ardmore Studios.

The synopsis reads: “In a near future, normal life on Earth has been decimated. Paul (Nicolas Cage) and his two sons, Thomas and Joseph, have been living a half-life – tranquility by day and torment by night.

“Every night, after the sun sets, they face the unrelenting attacks of a mysterious and violent evil.

“One day, when Thomas doesn’t return home before sundown, Paul must leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him. A nightmarish battle ensues that forces the family to execute a desperate plan to survive.”

Commenting on the experience of making Arcadian in Ireland, director Brewer said: “This film was tough to pull off, no question about that.

“But as much as I felt like I didn’t deserve the unbelievably talented Irish crew who created the movie with me, everyone seemed both happy to be there and proud of what they were pulling off – myself included.”

Arcadian is released in cinemas on Friday 14 June.
