Victor Wembanyama stunned everyone in 2023-24, his rookie campaign being nothing short of historic. Former teammate of LeBron James and Spurs player, Cedi Oman did not mince his words about the French nugget.

Expectations were huge heading into Victor Wembanyama’s first NBA season. Announced as a prodigy, even as a future candidate for GOAT, the Habs had no room for error.

But rather than giving in to pressure, the San Antonio pivot has broken everything in recent months. Rookie of the Year unanimously, second in the votes for Defender of the Year: the distinctions kept coming for him.

If the Spurs have not won many matches (22 wins for 60 losses), having the Alien in their ranks still lends itself to a lot of optimism.

Especially since the interior of the Blues is ultra-disciplined and listens to its veterans, proof of its exemplary maturity at only 20 years old.

His teammate Cedi Osman was in any case full of praise for him, speaking to Eurohoops :

A former teammate of LeBron raves about Wemby

It’s hard to say more about the former Mets player, but the Turkish international didn’t stop there. A former teammate of LeBron James at the Cavaliers, Osman had the opportunity to meet up close with one of the greatest players of all time.

Which, however, did not prevent him from daring to make a huge comparison between Wemby and the King… arguing that the Frenchman was doing even better than the NBA legend:

He is labeled as an alien. He really is. I can’t figure out how he moves as a much smaller player. The basics of his game are crazy.

In some matches, two or three players are on him.

He just waits under the basket and they suddenly run away. I don’t know if we’ve seen this before. (…)

LeBron can also do the same things as Victor, but not to this extent. He is completely different.

Cedi Osman played alongside LeBron James, although not the least good of basketball players, but even he can only kneel in front of Victor Wembanyama

. If the Frenchman continues his momentum, he could end up dominating the entire NBA for years. A very tempting prospect for French fans.
