LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rock star Jon Bon Jovi is rumored to be a candidate to replace pop princess Katy Perry as a judge on “American Idol.”
Bon Jovi performed on the season finale of the popular reality TV singing competition Sunday night, which marked Perry’s last evening as a judge. His appearance on the show fueled speculation that
Jon is the undisputed top contender to succeed Katy,” a source recently told Life & Style, adding that he possesses all the qualities necessary to command the stage and captivate TV audiences.”
He also reportedly comes at a high cost — a $25 million price tag.
Ahead of the Season 22 finale, the 62-year-old rocker from New Jersey served as a mentor to the show’s top 3 finalists — Jack Blocker, Abi Carter and Will Moseley, with Carter going on to win the crown.
The news comes as Bon Jovi’s four-part docuseries “Thank You, Good Night: The Bon Jovi Story” is streaming on Hulu. Plus, the band is set to release its 16th studio album, “Forever.”
In February, Perry announced this would be her final season as a judge alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

I think this probably will be my last show — my last season — for Idol. I mean, I love Idol so much,” Perry previous told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. “It’s connected me with, like, the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you what I’m saying, Jimmy?”
She went on to say that she wants “to go and see the world and maybe bring new music.” Plus, she said she is set to perform during Rock in Rio, a “huge music festival” in Brazil in September.
Perry is among a list of celebrities who served as judges on “American Idol” over the years. It all started when it premiered on Fox June 11, 2002, with Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell as the original judges.
