Jayson Tatum Spills Beans on Celtics’ Recurring Pattern of Wins and Losses in Playoffs

During the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Celtics dominated Game 1 but struggled in Game 2 against the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers, respectively. Jayson Tatum recently opened up about their previous series’ recurring pattern of wins and losses.

After game 1, the Celtics’ star player stated during a press conference that his team needs to maintain a focused mentality during the playoffs and not become complacent. He also indicated that his team could have performed even better despite delivering a solid performance.

“I think we have to come with the mindset of don’t relax, It’s different circumstances. In the first two rounds, we won our first Game 1 by a wide margin. I think human nature played a factor in that. But tonight being a close game, going into overtime (the Pacers) certainly feel like they probably should have won. We feel like we can play a lot better.” Tatum said.

In addition to Tatum’s efforts, Brown made a game-winning 3-pointer

In the game’s closing moments, Boston Celtics point guard Jaylen Brown stunned the arena with a game-winning three-pointer over Pascal Siakam. With just a few seconds remaining, the Celtics and Indiana Pacers were tied at 117 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics ultimately won 133-128 overtime to take a 1-0 series lead.

 

Tatum had an impressive performance, scoring 36 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing out four assists, and making three steals. In the regular season, he averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. Tatum performed fantastically in 74 games despite shooting 47.1% overall and 37.6% from three.

During a press conference, Tatum discussed Brown’s game-tying 3-pointer, emphasizing that anything can happen at any moment and the Celtics’ game is not over until the final buzzer.
