“Jon Bon Jovi Asserts Vocal Ability After Surgery: ‘More Than Capable’ of Singing”

Jon Bon Jovi is shining more light on his recovery process since undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2022.

The Bon Jovi frontman attended a screening and Q&A for his upcoming docuseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, during which he opened up about whether or not he could still sing following the surgery.

“What you saw on film was shot last March in that scene when I couldn’t sing well, or two years ago when I was on the road,” Bon Jovi said, via People. “I’m well into the recovery. I’m more than capable of singing. It’s just that for me, the bar is two and a half hours a night, four nights a week, before I say we’re going to go and do any shows.”

He continued, “So I’m well back on the road to recovery — not a day of it’s easy. Every day is a struggle, but I’m more than capable of doing it again. I’m fucking Bon Jovi!”

While the music legend is on his way to recovery, he recently admitted he’s not sure if he’ll be able to tour again because of his ongoing recovery, but he certainly wants to. “It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m just still recovering from a major surgery,” he said in an interview with Mix 104.1 Boston.

The singer previously shared that he underwent surgery in 2022 because one of his vocal cords was “atrophying.” He explained that one of them was “thick as a thumb” but the other was “thick as a pinky,” so he had to have a procedure to make them equal again.

Even if Bon Jovi cannot tour again, he has left his mark on the music industry. The rock icon was honored at MusiCares 2024 Person of the Year Gala in February, with a tribute lineup that included Bruce Springsteen, Shania Twain, Melissa Etheridge, Jelly Roll, Damiano David and Sammy Hagar.

And it doesn’t end there. His band also recently announced that they would be releasing their 16th studio album, Forever, on June 7.
