Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards’ Game 3 poster dunk has Patrick Mahomes making ‘craziest’ claims

Anthony Edwards’ poster dunk over Daniel Gafford had Patrick Mahomes shook

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was in awe of Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards

With just over six minutes to go in the 3rd quarter of Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves, facing an 0-2 series deficit already, were in desperate need of a spark. Then, in the blink of an eye, Anthony Edwards delivered more than just a spark for the Timberwolves. Ant took a flamethrower to the game, delivering a jaw-dropping posterization of Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford.

Daniel Gafford would go on to return the favor late in the 4th quarter with a game-sealing alley-oop poster over Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert, but the dunk from Game 3 belongs to Timberwolves’ budding superstar, who earned a well-deserved social media shoutout from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and well-known Dallas Mavericks fan Patrick Mahomes, who was courtside with his wife and with Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce. And anyone who watches the NFL knows that Patrick Mahomes knows a thing or two about making stunning, highlight-reel plays.

The still shot of a levitating Ant preparing to drop the hammer right on the head of Daniel Gafford gives credence to Patrick Mahomes’ claim, but the interesting thing about this dunk is that it’s definitely not even the most bonkers highlight that Anthony Edwards has been responsible for throughout his young career with the Timberwolves.

What’s most fun about Anthony Edwards, and why everyone around the NBA is so eager to hype him up as the air apparent — pun intended — to Michael Jordan, are not only the plays like these, but also the potential of what’s to come over the course of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. As we’re seeing firsthand in these Western Conference Finals, Anthony Edwards isn’t a finished product yet. He’s going to grow by leaps and bounds as a player while still continuing to drop jaws around the league, including Patrick Mahomes’.
