Jayson Tatum is one of the NBA’s top scorers averaging 30.6 points per game in Regular Season for the Boston Celtics. Not only reaffirming this status at the 2023 NBA All-Star, the 24-year-old also elevated himself to new heights in the “all-star” game in Utah.

Scoring 55 points and leading Team Giannis to a 184-175 overall victory, Jayson Tatum was named NBA All-Star Game Player of the Year.

He took home the MVP trophy named after the late Kobe Bryant, who was also Tatum’s idol throughout his career.

Jayson Tatum was the first of Team Giannis’ starters, a response from captain Antetokounmpo after LeBron James picked striker Joel Embiid.

“It’s like the world to me, especially to rub shoulders with the greatest legends and players to ever play,” Jayson said after the historic game.

“But to be honest, records are born to be broken. I’m going to hold this record as long as I can and I’m sure somebody will try to surpass it in the next few years.”

He became the record holder with the highest score in All-Star Game history ever recorded, surpassing Stephen Curry’s 50 points (2022) and Anthony Davis’ 52 points (2017).

Another record was set when Jayson Tatum scored 27 points in the 3rd quarter, the highest score ever in an NBA All-Star inning.

“Inspiration naturally came right then so me and JB (Jaylen Brown) were a little bit more energetic,” Jayson Tatum said. “Of course we’ll try to stay as safe as possible but still have a little bit more to lose. It’s more important to show JB how good I am defensively.”

Jayson Tatum’s title marks the 9th time the Boston Celtics have had a player named NBA All-Star Game MVP. The last time this happened, however, was 40 years ago.
