The legendary New York Knicks are finally revived. Following the order of Tom Thibodeau, a coach criticized for his grueling methods, the Knicks are now halfway into the ECF.
Averaging nearly 36 points in the postseason, he has been the long-awaited star New York has dreamed of. But is he better than Stephen Curry?
The summoning of Brunson had an instant impact on the Knicks. Brought from the Dallas Mavericks, the 27-year-old earned his first All-Star nod this season.
Additionally, he has become the anchor for New York. During these playoffs, he became the first player since Michael Jordan to drop 40 points in four consecutive games.
Arguably, he could be termed as the best player in the entire postseason so far solely because of the heavy load he has carried for the Knicks. His thunderous rise to prominence has compelled the experts to ask questions.
Recently, Draymond Green sat down with a Knicks super fan to discuss the turning point of the franchise.
Cheeky comments were also made about the ‘savior’ of the Knicks which flummoxed the Warriors forward.
Draymond Green cannot handle disrespect against Stephen Curry.
Coming back with another episode of the Draymond Green Show, the four-time champion hosted Jason Calacanis, a long-time devotee of the Knicks.
When speaking of the franchise’s rejuvenated success, Calacanis felt trading RJ Barrett parallelly led to the Knicks becoming a powerful unit once again.
In his opinion, the now Raptors forward didn’t fit the mold Thibodeau desired, which the organization received with OG Anunoby.
While doing so he also tried to pitch the Knicks to Draymond Green. “We want dogs on our team. We want Mason, we want Oakley, we want Starks.
We want grit, we want people who play both sides. And if there is a scuff we basically want Oakley, Draymond level players who are going to fight till the end,” said Calacania passionately.
“The Garden would love you Draymond, you know that. I don’t know how many years you got left in you but any way to get you on my Knicks,”.
Green was grateful for the appraisal tone Calacanis spoke with. However, he soon fell prey to the wild and impulsive thoughts of Knicks fans.
Later in the episode when entertaining questions, a fan asked whether Jalen Brunson is the point guard in the NBA after the playoffs. Green gave a look of disgust. He immediately defended his good friend and teammate Stephen Curry.

“F**k no. Steph Curry is the NBA dude are you crazy? What? Come on next. That’s ridiculous. Steph Curry still in the NBA, still great. Come on stop it. Luka Doncic is also a point guard,” Green said. “Jesus you kidding me? What is wrong with these people,”.
Brunson has been nothing short of spectacular in the postseason thus far. The two-time NCAA champion has carried the hard-nosed spirit of the Knicks and performed exceptionally great under the spotlight. Not only that, but his superiority in the post and footwork give him a natural edge.
However, the label of being the best point guard in the NBA is a hard title to achieve. Stephen Curry has been consistent for over a decade. He has revolutionized the game to a degree no one thought possible. Moreover, his surplus accolades are enough for arguments to be made about him being the greatest PG of all time.
Brunson is still young and approaching a peak that’s scary to even fathom. Maybe a few championships later Green will revisit the conversation. Even then if Curry is still in the league, he might not betray his ‘brother’ so easily. Do you think Brunson has the potential to be the best point guard with Doncic and Shai-Gilgeous Alexander hitting MVP standards? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
