Lakers’ Latest Update On Anthony Davis’ Injury
The Los Angeles Lakers earned a 124-108 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night.
Now they just need to beat Zion Williamson and Co. once more next week to lock up a playoff showdown against the Denver Nuggets.
Unfortunately, this weekend’s victory came at a price.
Anthony Davis suffered hip and back spams after being shoved in the air by Pelicans forward and former Laker Larry Nance Jr.
Davis wound up landing awkwardly in the process and had to exit the game – a particularly unfortunate situation given that he finished the night with a very impressive 30 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals.
After the game, the Lakers tried to downplay Davis’ injury.
Team head coach Darvin Ham said he was ‘extremely optimistic’ that Davis would play on Tuesday night against the Pelicans, ultimately describing his big man’s latest ailment as “nothing major.”
Davis struck a similar tone.
Although the Lakers star has developed a reputation in recent years for being hurt a lot, Davis has actually participated in 75 outings this season. That is his highest games played amount since 2017-2018 when he was still with the Pelicans.
Will Davis ultimately be available for the Lakers come Tuesday night? Time will tell, but at the moment all signs currently point to the answer being a definitive ‘yes.’
