Unlike Stephen Curry, 33YO Seth Hung Up On Cameron Brink Minutes Before WNBA Draft

The WNBA draft is fully underway, and the Los Angeles Sparks selected Cameron Brink of Stanford as the second pick. It doesn’t come as a surprise, given her remarkable senior year and skill set. Joining the draft night was her mother and godmother, Sonya Curry. When the news of her connection with the Curry family became public knowledge, the already popular 22-year-old’s life suddenly became that much more interesting. The nervous few hours before the selection were naturally spent talking to near and dear ones.

With Cameron Brink, it also meant talking to her god-brothers Stephen Curry and Seth Curry. While Steph was the complete package with positive vibes and good cheer, his brother Seth had a different way of support. The man hung up on his god-sister! Talking to reporters, Brink didn’t leave any detail as she recounted the tale. “Right before I came here, I was FaceTiming Steph with Sonya, my godmother, and my mom, and he says all these encouraging words and laughing with me. And then I FaceTime Seth and he hangs up on you.”

Steph showed his support by sharing this WNBA draft night video on Instagram. He tagged Cameron Brink and the WNBA, and captioned it, “2024 WNBA Draft”. There is no doubt that he helped ease her nerves, just as much as he would have helped her when she was learning to play basketball.

While the 4x champion might have been a big part of her preferred career, the position she is in right now is the result of Brink’s hard work and determination. Cameron Brink’s resume is a testament in itself. Except for 13 games, she started the rest of her 135 games at Stanford.

Brink’s last season numbers also weigh on her efficiency – 17.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game. From the 2x Pac-12 Player of the Year, Naismith DPOY, 3x Pac-12 All-Defensive Teamer, to the NCAA champion, Brink leaves Stanford as a decorated collegiate athlete.

Stephen Curry & Seth Curry react to WNBA’s 2nd draft pick Cameron Brink

Despite Seth Curry’s prank, he was just as proud as the rest of the family for Cameron’s draft night. He took to X to share his excitement about his god-sister being selected No. 2 by the Sparks. He shared the WNBA post with a bunch of fire emojis.

Stephen Curry, for his part, didn’t stop with just one story. He shared an edited version of Cameron Brink in a Los Angeles uniform. He also added the emotional moment when Brink’s name was called as the 2nd pick.

Yet another person is on the way to a successful life in the Curry family. Of course, not a direct relation, but Cam might as well be the baby sister the Curry siblings never had. The 6’4 New Jersey native definitely has all the skills to be on par with her veteran-brothers.

Interestingly, contrary to her god-brothers, Clark is known for her defensive abilities having won noteworthy titles like the Naismith DPOY and more. The recently turned-pro baller averaged 3.7 blocks per game last season. To her advantage, she’ll be joining an LA side that is on a major rebuild. With her all-around abilities, the franchise will hope she can help them better their subpar 17-23 record from last year.
