Keanu Reeves has announced a new career move away from film with the news that he has co-written his first novel.
The John Wick actor appeared on a pre-recorded segment on Good Morning America on Wednesday (January 10) to reveal that he has collaborated with award-winning author China Miéville on the new book.
The Book of Elsewhere is set in the world of the BRZRKR comic series, which Reeves created with writer Matt Kindt and artist Ron Garney.
The book’s premise centres around an immortal warrior who begins a quest to understand why he was given eternal life.

“It was extraordinary to have the opportunity to collaborate on The Book of Elsewhere with one of my favourite authors, China Miéville,” said Reeves in a statement.
“China did exactly what I was hoping for — he came in with a clear architecture for the story and how he wanted to play with the world of BRZRKR, a world that I love so much. I was thrilled with his vision and feel honoured to be a part of this collaborative process.”
Miéville also shared his excitement, saying: “Sometimes the greatest games are those you play with other people’s toys. It was an honour, a shock and a delight when Keanu invited me to play.
“But I could never have predicted how generous he’d be with toys he’s spent so long creating, how glad to experiment together, how open to true collaboration.”

He concluded: “I hope readers get to experience even a fraction of the pleasure reading The Book of Elsewhere that I experienced in the writing — in the serious business of play.”
The BRZRKR comic was the number one bestselling comic debut in over 25 years. The saga is set to expand further with a live-action Netflix film starring Reeves, as well as an anime spin-off.
The actor will also be reprising his role as John Wick in the new spin-off film, Ballerina. Set between the second and third instalments in the popular franchise, Reeves will star alongside No Time to Die star Ana de Armas.
