Sequel: 16 years after Keanu Reeves first brought the iconic comic book character John Constantine to life, the actor revealed he still wants to make a sequel

Reeves, now 57, headlined the 2005 adaptation Constantine, leading a cast featuring Rachel Weisz, Tilda Swinton, Djimon Hounsou, Gavin Rossdale, and a young Shia LaBeouf.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote The Matrix Resurrections, Reeves was asked about reviving characters, prompting him to mention John Constantine.

Colbert noted Reeves’ recent reprisals of beloved roles in The Matrix Resurrections and Bill & Ted Face the Music, asking if there were other characters he’d like to revisit.

Reeves enthusiastically expressed his interest in revisiting John Constantine, lamenting his previous attempts to make it happen. Despite the actor’s eagerness, a sequel to the 2005 film has yet to materialize.

The original movie, based on the Hellblazer comics, followed John Constantine, an exorcist and occult expert, as he navigated supernatural mysteries.

Though a sequel never came to fruition, the character found new life in the NBC series Constantine, portrayed by Matt Ryan, and made appearances in The CW’s Arrowverse.

TV John: However, the John Constantine character was brought back on the small screen with the NBC series Constantine, starring Matt Ryan as the title character, though it only lasted for one 13-episode season.

Arrowverse: Surprisingly, though, Ryan was brought back as John Constantine for The CW's Arrow, and he has appeared in multiple episodes of Arrow and other 'Arrowverse' shows throughout the years
