Notorious Australian conservative and Donald Trump ‘fan’ sparks outrage from Swifties as she trolls Taylor Swift at Sydney airport
An Australian influencer went to extreme lengths to troll Taylor Swift on Monday as the superstar touched down in her private jet at Sydney airport.
Conservative political commentator Kobie Thatcher joined a small group of fans to take a swipe at Taylor for the megastar’s attacks on former U.S. president Donald Trump.
Standing with a group of young fans who braved the wet weather, Kobie could be seen holding a sign that read: ‘Swifties for Trump.’
The outspoken social media identity later posted an image of her protest to X.
Thatcher told her followers: ‘I’m certainly no fan of hers, but decided to give Trump-hating Taylor Swift an appropriate welcome as she touched down on her private jet in Sydney today.
Thatcher’s post divided X users.
‘What a sad and miserable life you must live Kobie,’ wrote one angry Swiftie, while another agreed: ‘Imagine what a sad life you must have to do this.’
‘Good that you’re near a hydrant so that you can put out the bin fire that is your sad life,’ added another.
‘Nothing like ruining a young fan’s day with your presence.’
But others approved of Thatcher’s attempt to throw shade at Taylor.
‘Lol you make my day Kobie, I would love to see her reaction,’ messaged X user Skye, Trumps Spy.
Another of Thatcher’s supporters congratulated her for her ‘guts’ and asked whether she ‘copped abuse’ from fans.
‘No abuse, but don’t think some of the news reporters were too amused,’ Thatcher replied.
Taylor made headlines in 2020 for a Tweet she made attacking then President Trump during his time in the Oval Office.
The Shake It Off singer took to social media to condemn Trump for his remarks over the violence that erupted after the police-related shooting death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
‘After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump,’ wrote Swift in the tweet.
Thatcher has gained a following as a critic of ‘wokeness’ on social media.
She has been particularly outspoken over Australia’s COVID response, Indigenous issues and LGBQT issues.
