The new Hunger Games film won over MI-7 and John Wick Chapter 4 as the Best Action Film at the People’s Choice Awards.
Keanu Reeves and Tom Cruise raised the bar for action films last year with their films John Wick: Chapter 4 and Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1. Despite their age, the two movie stars proved that they are the best in the genre, and their respective films presented some of the most exhilarating action sequences ever made in the genre.
Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 7 was an absolute thrill ride from start to finish
The People’s Choice Awards was held yesterday, and the two blockbuster films were nominated in the category of The Action Movie of the Year. Shockingly, both films failed to win the award as people voted an unlikely movie for the award.
John Wick: Chapter 4 and MI:7 Fail to Win Action Movie of the Year
Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4 is one of the best action films of all time
Fans of action cinema were treated to two films that elevated the genre to new heights last year. Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4 proved to be arguably the best entry in the franchise as it topped the previous three films through its outrageous and creative action sequences and world-building.
Keanu Reeves Still Regrets $60M Morgan Freeman Movie That Gave Him Spinal Injury So Severe He Almost Said No to The Matrix
Similarly, Tom Cruise‘s Mission Impossible 7 showed Cruise at his best, performing death-defying stunts and proving that no actor is as brave as him with the extent he will go to provide a thrilling cinematic experience. The scene where he rides a motorcycle off a cliff is still etched into everyone’s minds.
The two films were undoubtedly two of the best action films of 2023, and fans celebrated these films. However, neither of the two won the award for best action film at the recently held People’s Choice Awards. Shockingly, people voted for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes as their favorite action movie of 2023. (via People)
This is an odd choice for the award, and one of the two films should have secured the win. The People’s Choice Awards are voted by people, and it’s confusing why they would choose the new Hunger Games film as a better action film than the vastly superior MI-7 and John Wick: Chapter 4. Nevertheless, people have made their choice, and it’s certainly a baffling one.

Ian McShane Believes Keanu Reeves Deserves a Good Rest
Ian McShane as Winston from John Wick: Chapter 4
Ian McShane has starred in all of the John Wick films as Winston, who is a father figure to John Wick in addition to being the head of the New York continental. McShane is aware of the hard work and dedication that Keanu Reeves puts in for these films, and he recently spoke about how he deserves a good rest after his insurmountable contribution to the franchise.
“It was great making that first movie”: Constantine 2 Boss Has No Regrets about First Keanu Reeves Movie Despite Fan Outrage
Talking to Screenrant, McShane claimed that Reeves is finally resting after 10 years of grueling prep and execution of the four John Wick films. He stated that the actor deserves his break from the franchise, and it is up to him if he wants to continue as John Wick or not in the future. He said,
“I think Keanu deserves a good rest as long as he wants. I spoke to him the other day, he’s resting for a while after the beating he’s taken over the last 10 years from all the assassins of the world. Let him rest until he decides to rise from his grave once again, or wherever he sleeps, because really, I’m his father, and he’s the vampire. So, I’m Vlad, The Impaler. [Laughs] There’s a whole horror film to be made out of this. Everything can zoom into something else. There’s no rules.”
Lionsgate has announced a fifth John Wick film, but it is not sure exactly how the character will go forward after he supposedly died in the ending of the fourth film. However, audiences won’t miss him anytime soon as Reeves is set to return as John Wick in this year’s Ballerina led by Ana de Armas.
