Mike Tyson is hungry and is honing his two most reliable tools, speed and power. He is working tirelessly, hitting mitts, and sharpening his game ahead of his fight with Jake Paul on July 20. While he appears in peak physical fitness form, he is now looking to ensure that fans witness his training journey.
After a couple of jaw-dropping, power-packed clips, the former champion is again showcasing his brutal power, but this time his trainer seemed lucky to survive those punches with the help of protective gear.
The 57-year-old looked focused and unloaded heavy punches on his trainer in the latest training clip shared by Fight Hype. While the training had to do with landing a jab and stepping outside, Tyson would exhibit sudden outbursts of punches, which left the trainer with a grunted face and wobbling feet. “Ok Mike, step outside. No more cross. So jab, left cross, jab, step outside,” the trainer said while still reeling from the effects of the exchange.
In the 3-minute long clip, every time ‘Iron Mike’ would go on the offensive and land a combination, the trainer would find himself in pain and on the verge of taking a knee. In the dying seconds of the clip, fans can notice Tyson perfecting the command of his trainer, landing, and then stepping outside effortlessly. “This is perfect,” the trainer praised the legendary boxer.
Teddy Atlas Explains Why Jake Paul Has More to Lose Than Mike Tyson: “I Think He Might Be Making a Mistake”
Tyson has posted several such training clips. In each clip, he looks dangerous and violent. In one of those clips, which dates to his third day of training, he also left a message for Paul. “You still wanna f*ck with me?” he asked his opponent with raw aggression. Notably, this will only be the second time Tyson steps into the square circle after hanging his gloves in 2005. Owing to the same, there are some doubts about whether the decision to fight the ‘Problem Child’ was a good call. However, Teddy Atlas believes the New York native has made a good decision.
Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: ‘Kid Dynamite’ has it all
Atlas, 67, feels Tyson has people around him and he is making good money. The former heavyweight champion doesn’t have anything to lose, compared to his 30-year younger opponent. Atlas said on his podcast, “Tyson, whatever they’re paying him, he’s been making good money.”
“He’s come back, like I said, in his life, he’s done a good job, having the people around him. I guess his wife is part of that obviously, where they’ve done a good job to get him on the track,” Atlas concluded. It remains to be seen how Tyson approaches the fight on the fateful day against Paul.
