‘You need to have respect’ – Tommy Fury slams Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson in angry rant

Tommy Fury has not held back in his assessment of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson.

Paul announced that he will fight heavyweight legend Tyson on July 20, which has attracted widespread criticism given their 31-year age gap.

And Paul’s rival Fury, who beat the influencer on points in their March 2023 showdown, is not impressed with his decision to compete against the retired former champion.

He said during a scathing rant to Jamal Niaz: “I don’t want to give a prediction on that. It is a 60-year-old man getting in the ring with a 26-year-old man.

“It is disgraceful. At the end of the day if you are a good man, you don’t want to fight a legend like that now.

“What he was is not what he is now. These 10 second clips on the internet or a minute look great, but anyone can do that.

“The fight isn’t a minute, at 60 you are going to feel it.

“And I know one thing, he couldn’t beat me so he is jumping in the ring with a 60-year-old. But Jake Paul hasn’t done himself any favours.

“Would I get in the ring with Mike Tyson if I was offered it tomorrow? No. You have to have some respect about you I think.”

Paul has hit back at his fair share of critics, and had claimed previously that Fury himself rejected the July fight date.

A rematch between ‘TNT’ and the ‘Problem Child’ still seems highly likely, and could be pursued at the back end of 2024.

Fury is currently out of action after having hand surgery, but is open to a sequel.

Paul for now will take on the challenge of ex-undisputed champion Tyson who will be 58 when the pair collide.

Tyson has been warned by fans that he could receive a brutal punishment from Paul, after footage emerged of him training.

He has also received medical warnings from doctors, who are concerned about him fighting in his condition and age.

‘Iron’ Mike has refused to entertain calls to cancel the fight however, and has lashed out at critics of the event.

Relief was clear when Tyson claimed that the fight will now take place under exhibition rules.

But Paul will be looking forward to the money-spinning clash nonetheless, and Fury could well be waiting in the wings.
