Northern Ireland actor Liam Neeson is set to star in a new action-thriller which will see him lead police on an epic cross-country chase.
Under the title Mongoose, most of the international distribution rights have been bought by Amazon Prime Video in a deal worth $20m, according to Deadline.
The Ballymena actor is currently in production on Naked Gun before he takes up his Mongoose role – in which he’ll play Ryan “Fang” Flanagan – a war hero accused of a crime he didn’t commit.
With nothing to lose, he leads police on an epic televised cross-country car chase, helped by members of his former Special Forces Army battalion and closely monitored by a fascinated public rooting for his safe getaway.
Behind the scenes, the producers will be Code Entertainment who were behind both Ice Road movies, the second of which recently filmed in Australia.
Production will get underway in January 2025 in Australia and additional casting is ongoing.
Experienced stunt professional Mark Vanselow will direct the film after having served as Mr Neeson’s stunt double for more than 20 films – including the Taken series and both Ice Road productions.
