A hilarious story that you would not expect to hear from Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson was a recent guest on the popular podcast Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, where the TV personality and comedian chats to celebrities about their lives.

Neeson was a fascinating guest, and he talked about the relationship he has with religion, as well as how he still talks to his deceased wife Natasha every single day.

The Irish actor wasn’t just insightful on the podcast though, he was hilarious too, and he told one particular story about his childhood growing up in Ballymena, County Antrim.

Neeson discussed a time when he went to confession, a common occurrence for Catholics growing up in Ireland at one point, and hilarity ensued.

He said that he made the mistake of confessing to something that he actually did, and the priest in the church responded terribly.

“So we start, and I had learned how to pleasure myself at home, onto the sheets, right? I had looked up the appropriate word. I remember that… ‘Masturbate’? ‘Masturbation’? Okay. That seems harmless enough,” he recalls. Neeson goes on to say that he started by confessing to the priest things like an argument with his mom before finally admitting to masturbating.

The priest was not quiet in his response, embarrassing a young Neeson in front of the entire church.

He said the priest said: “‘You what?!’ This guy, literally, I mean, he almost said things like, ‘The grass will grow over the palm of your hand before you’re 21! Stop that evil practice!'”

Thinking of all the old women outside who no doubt heard the entire ordeal, Neeson says he left immediately, and, “That was the last time I ever went.”
