The Taken franchise is beloved for many reasons, and one of the biggest has to be Neeson’s performance. The film got him into the limelight and helped him showcase his talent.

With this, many fans would be surprised to know that the actor was embarrassed when his driver asked him one question about the first film.

Liam Neeson’s Driver Was Concerned

Liam Neeson’s character in Taken is certainly no saint. His appetite for violence is so well known that a line of him threatening to kill someone on the phone has turned into a meme.

Despite this well-known fact, it would seem that the actor was under a different impression when he was filming the movie. During an interview with ScreenRant, he revealed an interesting story about when he was filming the movie.

During the production of the 2008 film, the actor hired a driver who would take him from his hotel to the film set.

I had a driver when I was doing Taken, the first Taken movie 15 years ago I think it was, and we were shooting in LA for the first week, and at the end of the first week, my driver as he dropped me off at the hotel, he said, “Mr. Neeson, can I ask you a question?”

While his employee was quite unaware when he started filming. However, by the end of the week, he had his own copy of the script. After reading the majority of it, the driver seemed to be horrified by the actions of Neeson’s character.

Liam Neeson Was Embarrassed

Voicing his concern, Liam Neeson’s driver asked the actor about his character, Bryan Mills. Although he is playing the protagonist in the film, he does more than a few questionable things throughout the series.

His driver touched on exactly this, questioning just how many people were killed by Mills’ character when he was only 40 pages in.

I said, “Yeah, sure.” He says, “I’ve started to read the script of Taken, I’ve got to page 40, I think he said. It says you’ve taken the lives of 26 people.” [laughs] I didn’t know how to answer that. I felt quite embarrassed. They said in such a way as if, “Are you sure you’ve read this script? Because you do nasty things to people.

This line of questioning embarrassed Neeson quite a lot, as he felt like he was being judged for agreeing to the film. He was unsure of how he should have answered a question like this. The actor has also talked about how, when he looks back on the film, he gets ashamed thinking about how morally gray his character was.
