The Ballymena actor’s 100th film is set for its St Patrick’s Day release
St Patrick’s Day will see a huge milestone for actor Liam Neeson as his 100th film is released on Sky Cinema.
The 70-year-old star, who is most recognized for his roles in the Taken and Star Wars franchises, takes on the role of Phillip Marlowe in Marlowe, directed by Academy Award winner Neil Jordan.
The flick is a crime thriller, adapted from The Black-Eyed Blonde by John Banville.
Bringing Old Hollywood to life, the film sees Liam play the titular character, who is hired to find the ex-lover of a glamorous heiress who is also the daughter of a huge movie star.
The film also stars Diane Kruger and Jessica Lange and will be available for Sky Cinema customers to stream from March 17.
The official synopsis reads: “Marlowe soon finds himself in the underbelly of Hollywood’s film industry and unwittingly drawn into the crossfire of a legendary Hollywood actress (Jessica Lange) and her subversive, ambitious daughter.”
Director Neil Jordan spoke of his excitement about the opportunity to work with Hollywood heavyweight Liam, describing it as a “privilege”.
“Seeing William Monahan’s script come to life through the work of our very talented cast—Diane Kruger, Jessica Lange, Alan Cumming, Danny Huston, Daniela Melchior, and more – was a joy from start to finish and we can’t wait to share the film with audiences.”

Ballymena man Liam is also set to star in another Neil Jordan flick, which will be his 101st film. The Riker’s Ghost sees Liam play a convict who is set for release but is forced to break a terrorist out of prison.
“This is a unique take on the prison escape,” said Neil Jordan.
