With the aim of advancing the production and commercialization of the MANSUP weapon system (Surface-to-Surface National Anti-Ship Missile), the Brazilian Navy, through the Directorate of Weapon Systems, and the Brazilian company SIATT signed a technology transfer contract, which allows the company to provide various services both locally and abroad.
The agreement was signed during March in a ceremony held at the auditorium of the Technological Innovation Park of São José dos Campos, where SIATT is headquartered.
The signing was attended by Rear Admiral Edgar Luiz Siqueira Barbosa, Director-General of Naval Material, Vice Admiral Rodrigo Otavio Fernandes de Hônkis, Advisor for Defense Material Industries Affairs, and Rear Admiral Carlos Henrique Lima Zampieri, Director of Weapon Systems of the Navy (DSAM).
On behalf of SIATT, the Chairman of the Board and CEO, Azhaury Cunha Filho and Rogerio Salvador, and the CEO of EDGE Brasil, Marcos Degaut, participated.
During the ceremony, Rear Admiral Zampieri emphasized the importance of this contract for the MANSUP project.
He stated, “This true milestone today will ensure the flow of activities and resources necessary for the completion of the MANSUP missile project.
All this effort will ultimately ensure, in the very near future, the development of the extended-range MANSUP, which will promote an even greater technological leap in the defense and protection capability of our Blue Amazon.”
In conclusion, he added, “At this moment, I would like to express my gratitude, not only out of duty but out of gratitude to all those involved in the MANSUP project, you brave, competent, and persistent Brazilians, who have overcome the challenge of innovation through your hard work and have helped us turn this dream, which once seemed so distant, into a reality.”
The MANSUP is an anti-surface missile developed and manufactured by SIATT to equip ships of the Brazilian Navy.
With an approximate range of 70 kilometers, radar-guided, the original version of the MANSUP has been extensively evaluated with multiple launches from the Niteroi-class frigates of the MB.
In a quest to enhance the capabilities of the system, SIATT signed a contract with the Emirati company EDGE Group for the development of a new version officially designated as MANSUP-ER.
In a joint statement, both companies noted that “The new missile (MANSUP-ER) has an extended range of 200 kilometers, is equipped with a Turbomachine turbine, flies at a speed of 950 km/h, and has the capacity to carry 150 kg of explosive payload.
Its characteristics allow adaptation for integration into selected aerial and land systems.”
