The USS Enterprise was decommissioned on February 3, 2017, after 55 years of service.

It was one of the longest-serving aircraft carriers in U.S. Navy history.

After decommissioning, the ship was placed in reserve status and then officially stricken from the Naval Vessel Register (NVR) on December 1, 2017.

USS Enterprise (CVN-65) turns after launching an aircraft.

The ship’s hull and superstructure were subsequently sold for scrap and recycling, and the ship’s reactors were removed and transported to a storage facility in Idaho for safe disposal.

Although the USS Enterprise is no longer in service, it remains an important part of U.S. Navy history and was celebrated as a symbol of American naval power and technological innovation.
