Despite the fight against Mike Tyson still being over a month away, Jake Paul doesn’t let a chance slip by without landing a verbal jab or two at his 57-year-old adversary. ‘The Problem Child’ Paul and ‘Iron’ Mike are geared to go toe-to-toe at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on July 20—live on Netflix.
During their last press conference in Texas, amid all the insults and promises of victory, Paul gave himself a new nickname, undeniably inspired by Tyson’s own ‘Iron.’ What did Paul name himself? Well, the 27-year-old former Disney star said, “They call him ‘Iron’ Mike, but I am ‘Titanium’ Jake Paul.” Meanwhile, when Tyson shared an Instagram post not too long ago, Paul used his new moniker to tease the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet.’
Tyson’s nickname has quite the backstory, revealing how he earned it. Tyson’s ascent to fame was nothing short of meteoric. By the time he clinched the world championship title, he boasted an impeccable record of 22 wins and no losses, with an astonishing 21 of those victories achieved via knockout. It was Tyson’s unparalleled knack for swiftly ending matches, often within a single round and with just one punch, that earned him the iconic moniker he’s known by today.
Despite lacking any notable achievements, Paul appears convinced that adopting the moniker ‘Titanium’ grants him the license to taunt a legend like Tyson. Nevertheless, yesterday, ‘Iron’ Mike posted the entire 20 July fight card on his Instagram account with the caption reading, “Can’t wait for Jake’s wake.” Without missing a beat, Paul fired back promptly, asserting, “Titanium > Iron.”
What’s more, Jake Paul might just have found his next opponent, and he is on the same fight card as him.
The Mike Tyson fight will be the biggest one for Paul to date, and all the hype and commotion seems to have excited Darren Till. The former UFC welterweight and middleweight fighter plans to confront Paul in the ring right after his fight against Mike Tyson. Interestingly, he will be on the same fight card, facing off against Chavez Jr.
However, Till feels he has that fight in the bag, as he told The Mac Life, “When I win, when I knock Chávez Jr. out, I’m going to get on the mic or whatever. I’ll watch Jake’s fight, and I’ll be right there in the mix because I’m going to hold him to that fight now.” Till dismissed Paul, fighting anyone else, stating, “I’m the same size as him. So, let’s see.”
Till seems way too confident, considering he hasn’t won a fight since 2019 and managed to win only one fight in his last six. Not to mention, Till hasn’t fought anyone in any combat setting since 2022, so ring rust and his history of knee injury may prevent Till from getting the fight he wants.
Amidst the fervor surrounding the event, Jake Paul appears unwilling to pass up any chance to provoke Mike Tyson. However, will all of his antics backfire on him on fight night? We will have to wait and see. Anyway, do you think ‘Titanium’ will beat ‘Iron’?
