“It does mimic their journey after the loss of their wife and mother. Made the movie so real.”
There’s a little-known Liam Neeson movie now available on Netflix and it’s sending fans into a frenzy.
Despite first coming out in 2020, the film recently climbed all the way up to Netflix’s US top four charts.
And starring Love Actually‘s Neeson, it hasn’t taken long for conversation about the drama to spill over onto social media.
Written and directed by James D’Arcy, the film centres around the character of Jack Foster (played by Micheál Richardson) and his dad Robert (Neeson) – Neeson and Richardson a father-son duo in actual life as well.
Jack is getting divorced and his wife’s family own the art gallery he manages, so he ends up losing his job too. In a bid to buy his own gallery, he decides to sell the holiday home he and his father own in Italy which used to belong to his mother – who passed away when he was little.
The father and son duo then go to visit the house and find it extremely run down, embarking on an adventure to revamp it, while also navigating the memories left behind in the house of Jack’s mom. Their renewed sense of grief and journey trying to begin another chapter of their lives helps bring them closer together again.
Despite only achieving a measly audience score of 40 percent and tomatometer score of 43 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, since being brought onto Netflix US, the movie has tugged at many people’s heartstrings and gained a sudden increase in popularity.

Viewers have flooded to Facebook to share their newfound love of the film – titled Made in Italy.
One user wrote: “One of the best movies I have seen in a long time!! It’s about a widower artist and his estranged son who try to mend their broken relationship as they work together to restore a dilapidated house in Italy.
“The 25-year-old actor Micheál Richardson co-stars opposite his father, Liam Neeson, in Made in Italy, a film that uncannily mirrors his own journey with grief. Definitely 5 [star]’s!!”
“Great movie. It does mimic their journey after the loss of their wife and mother. Made the movie so real,” another added.
A third commented: “Great movie, love it!”
Many viewers also pointed out the parallels between the plot and Neeson and Richardson’s own story – Neeson’s wife and Richardson’s mother, actor Natasha Richardson, having passed away in 2009 as a result of a skiing accident.
