The Boston Celtics won an intense Game 1 against the Indiana Pacers by a score of 133-128. The Celtics were close to losing the game in the final seconds, but then Jaylen Brown, the Celtics’ point guard, made a game-tying three-pointer shot over Pascal Siakam, the Pacers’ star player, forcing the game into overtime. Despite the Celtics’ victory, Jayson Tatum, the star player of the team, was not satisfied with his performance.

During a press conference after the game, Tatum stated that he was not happy with his shooting in Game 1.

“I’m so glad we won the game, because I woulda been sick” Tatum said.

Tatum praised Jaylen Brown for his impressive 3-pointer

Jayson Tatum had an impressive performance, scoring 36 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing out four assists, and making three steals. He had a shooting percentage of 46% from the field, making 12 out of 26 shots and 25% from three, making 2 out of 8 attempts. Tatum, who was the third overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, has only taken the Celtics to the NBA Finals once, in 2022, where they lost to the Golden State Warriors. During the regular season, he averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. Despite shooting 37.6% from three and 47.1% overall, Tatum had an outstanding performance in 74 games.

During the same press conference, Tatum praised Jaylen Brown for his game-winning 3-pointer. He stated that if there is time left on the clock, the Celtics still have a chance to win any game.

That sh*t was wild. But stay present, stay in the moment. As long as there is time on the clock, we feel like we have a chance,” Tatum said

Tatum is set to return to action on Friday for Game 2 against the Pacers at TD Garden.
