Amid rumors of casting the next Dark Knight in The Brave and the Bold, Reacher star Alan Ritchson says he would love to put on the cape and cowl.
“With all the rumors flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman,” Ritchson said to Fortress of Solitude when asked who is the toughest between the Dark Knight and Jack Reacher.
So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler. But I mean, Reacher would be harder to go down in a fight. Just him and his toothbrush, and [Batman] be like, ‘Damn, he’s holding on. It’s been 30 minutes.’ So, it would be fun.”
Ritchson is no stranger to the DC Universe, as the actor played a young Arthur Curry/Aquaman on the fifth season of the WB’s Smallville. An unsold spinoff pilot for the fledgling CW was produced with soap opera star Justin Hartley replacing Ritchson in the title role.
Ritchson was recast as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in later seasons of Smallville and later played Hank Hall/Hawk opposite Minka Kelly‘s Dawn Granger/Dove on Titans.
What is The Brave and the Bold about?
Separate from the continuity of Matt Reeves‘ The Batman, The Brave and the Bold will be the Dark Knight’s introduction to the rebooted DCU banner under DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Described by Gunn as a “strange father and son story,” the movie follows the relationship between Bruce Wayne and his son Damian Wayne/Robin. The Flash‘s Andy Muschetti is set to direct the movie while a screenwriter has yet to be announced.
The Brave and the Bold does not yet have a release date.
