Alan Ritchson straightway declined to label his Prime Video show as ‘Dad TV.’
SUMMARY
‘Reacher’ star Alan Ritchson is not akin to call his show a ‘Dad TV’ as fans labeled it.
The actor said that he showed both seasons to his kids, except for some scenes.
Ritchson said the show is a ‘family TV’ and can be viewed by almost any age groups.
The way Reacher season 2 engrossed fans is marvellous, and almost all the credit falls on Alan Ritchson as the actor was dead set on making himself a man mountain for the show. It was a huge hit, connecting people with rich entertainment blended with top-notch action.

Still, as many would label the show as Dad TV, Ritchson is keen on refusing the idea but defending the series as a family show. The actor has a fair explanation, but what the world grasped concerning the essence of the series does not always have to be on the line with Ritchson.
Alan Ritchson Discarded Reacher’s ‘Dad TV’ Label
Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher in Reacher.
Alan Ritchson, the heart and soul of Prime Video show Reacher, is far from agreeing with fans labeling the show as ‘peak Dad TV.’ For the actor, “It’s so weird” but unstoppable as the association has been deeply rooted, and he admitted, “I keep seeing that.” But still, “It’s funny,” Ritchson told GQ, explaining why it could be called a family show.
“I’ve shown my kids the show. I let them watch season one – but I wouldn’t let them see the naked guy hanging crucified on the wall [who had his bollocks chopped off and was forced to swallow them whole], but everything else was… Within context, it all made sense. They loved it, man. For me, it’s not ‘Dad TV’, it’s ‘family TV.’”
The actor added that he often encounters fans calling him by the name of the character of the show, “I walk down the street and little ladies on their walkers are like [he adopts the voice of a decrepit old woman] ‘Reacher… Reacher…’” of course, Reacher has fans of all age groups.
But again, “It’s such a misnomer to me to qualify this as ‘Dad TV’. But I am a father and I, too, love the show. Maybe it does work.” Whatever fans may call it, the show was an astounding hit topping the charts with confounding records.
Alan Ritchson Addressed Reacher’s Season 2 Hit
Alan Ritchson in Reacher
Based on Lee Child’s bestselling Jack Reacher book series that follows an ex-U.S. Army Military Police Major, the Amazon show got a decent fan reception after the release of season 1 on February 4, 2022, extensively following Child’s debut novel Killing Floor. There is no questioning Ritchson’s hard work, which was even beyond the imagination of many as she achieved the man mountain status.
The second season of the show adheres to Child’s 2007 novel in the series Bad Luck and Trouble, which hit well among fans as it went on to top the charts. “It’s confounding,” Ritchson told GQ.
“The readership of the books is an unexpected demographic: just as many women read these books as men. There was an interesting article about how people say ‘men want to be him and women want to sleep with him,’ but there’s an independence and freedom to Reacher that women clearly want, too. We assume freedom is a male mentality, but a lot of women share the same desires.”
Ritchson added, “I guess part of the success is that there was wish fulfilment for a lot more people than first expected.” Also, it seemed the show was bound to be a hit but with the success of the latest season, there was an instant nod from the studio for the third season and Ritchson confirmed the news on his Instagram. Fans can witness Reacher’s action on Prime Video.
