Of course, the truth is that people’s parents often prefer one of their relationships over another. So in theory, Today’s article could have been no big deal. However, the body of Today’s article, which cited an inside source, made it seem like Jolie didn’t get along with Pitt’s family at all, including his mom.

On top of claiming that Jane Pitt and Jolie didn’t like each other, Today went a little bit further than that. They also went on to claim that even though Brad Pitt and Aniston broke up years earlier, Jane Pitt remained close to her ex-daughter-in-law.

“(Jen and Jane) speak at least a couple of times a week and Jen never misses a birthday or special occasion.”

Of course, one article claiming that Jane Pitt and Jolie didn’t get along isn’t that compelling. After all, it would be an understatement to say that hundreds of articles about Jolie and Brad Pitt’s relationship have been published.

With that in mind, it is worth noting that in 2016, Radar Online published an article about Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce. As a part of that piece, Radar Online claimed that Jane Pitt was devastated that her son and Jolie were getting divorced.

However, the article made it clear that Jane Pitt was upset because she was worried about getting enough contact with her grandchildren. That same article also cited an inside source that claimed that Jane Pitt and Jolie never bonded despite one of them trying to.

In addition to articles like the ones already mentioned, other pieces have made similar and worse claims about Jolie and Jane Pitt. A perfect example of that is in 2018, Radar Online published a piece that cited an inside source that claimed Jane Pitt would never forgive Jolie.

“Jane is a tough cookie, and she will never forgive Angelina for what she’s put the family through — especially since they’ve barely seen the kids since the divorce was announced…She thinks her son has been treated in a cruel and manipulative way, and she’s not letting this go.”

Throughout Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship and even after, inside sources have often made explosive claims about them. While those claims are great for headlines, there is no way to ever know for sure if they are utterly false, overstated, or completely accurate. However, there were times in which Jolie and Jane Pitt praised each other on the record.

In 2008, The Daily Mail published an article about how Jolie was cuddling up to Pitt’s parents amid rumors of them fighting. As a part of that piece, The Daily Mail quoted Jolie talking about how wonderful Pitt’s parents had been to her children.

Later in 2013 after Jolie underwent a double mastectomy, Jane Pitt gave People a statement. As a part of that statement, Jane Pitt praised Jolie and more notably expressed her love for the actor.

Even inside sources have made it seem like Jolie and Jane Pitt have been closer than some reports would have people believe. One example of that is a 2020 report that claimed Jolie visited Jane Pitt, so she could reunite with her grandchildren.
