Exclusive: Jerry Bruckheimer comments on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’s Alan Ritchson rising as the next major action star.
After taking on the starring role in Prime Video’s hit series Reacher, Alan Ritchson is on a rapid rise with his acting career. He could just be at the start of many more wonderful roles to come if he continues to make the right choices, according to legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
These days, Ritchson can be seen on the big screen with his role in Guy Ritchie’s new movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. In an interview with CBR’s Kevin Polowy, producer Jerry Bruckheimer commented on Ritchson’s work and the notion that the actor is the next big action star.
Bruckheimer pointed to Ritchson’s talents to suggest he indeed has the potential, but the producer warned that even with all of the skill in the world, becoming a major movie star comes down to actors getting choosy with their roles.
“He’s enormously talented,” Bruckheimer said. “He brings fun to it. He’s a really dedicated actor, worked very hard. Smart on top of it. So, it’s all about choices for an actor. If you make the right choices, you become a big action star, or a big movie star. If you make the wrong choices, you don’t. We’ve seen so many actors who have gone on to be phenomenal crowd-pleasers, and you’ve seen actors who’ve faded away.”
“If you make the right choices, you become a big action star, or a big movie star.”
Bruckheimer added, “Again, it comes down to their choices, not their talent, because a lot of them are enormously talented. You have to be talented to begin with.”
Aside from his role in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Ritchson is well known for playing Jack Reacher in Reacher. Given the continued popularity of the series, he could be in the role for years to come, as the actor has said he’s up for doing it as long as the fans want him to.
He’s also been campaigning to play the role of Batman, possibly in the DCU, which would mark his third DC role following Smallville and Titans. The actor was recently cast to star in a Christmas comedy movie with fellow action genre favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger.
