Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has finally gotten its theatrical release date.

A date has finally been put on the board for Gerard Butler’s upcoming action sequel Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. A sequel to 2018’s Den of Thieves, the new film has been slated for a release in theaters in early 2025.

Per Variety, Den of Thieves: Pantera will be released in theaters on Jan. 10, 2025. Currently, this is the only film that’s been announced for a release on that date, though more are likely to be added to the schedule in the coming months. Filming was initially set for 2022 with the sequel, but shooting didn’t end up starting until April 2023, concluding that summer. The film’s rights were acquired at least year’s Cannes market by Briarcliff Entertainment.

Den of Thieves was written and directed by Christian Gudegast, who crafted the story with Paul Scheuring. The film stars Gerard Butler, Pablo Schreiber, O’Shea JAckson Jr., and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. It tells the story of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officers thwarting a gang of thieves consisting of ex-MARSOC Marines planning to rob the L.A.’s Federal Reserve. The movie banked more than $80 million at the box office against a $30 million budget.

Den of Thieves 2 Heads to Europe

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera brings back Butler and Jackson, picking up immediately after the events of the first film. Now, Butler’s Big Nick O’Brien is looking to track down Jackson’s Donnie Wilson, with the latter now planning another major heist in Europe. Gudegast returns to write and direct the sequel, which is produced by Butler, Tucker Tooley, Alan Siegel, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, and Meadow Williams.

“We’re Europe-bound, we’re still on the hunt for Donnie who’s now on the diamond district in Marseilles,” Butler previously explains, per UNILAD, about the new movie’s story. “I go over to hunt him down, but with different intentions than you might imagine. So we’re going to be in Marseilles, the Alps and London – it’s definitely a more glamorous journey than the last one, and probably a more fun, sexy journey.”

In a separate interview with Screen Rant, Gudegast also said, “It’s all going to be set in Europe. And it’s going be about Big Nick hunting Donnie, who’s involved in a diamond heist and he’s teamed up with the former Pink Panther mafia… Nick is also going to be hunted by another group, I won’t reveal right now. It’s gonna, there’ll be a few different kinds of twists in this one. It’ll be hopefully very surprising.”

Den of Thieves: Patera will be released on Jan. 10, 2025.
