And seems like the actor got a few clues about what this line of work would be like for him at the very beginning, as he shared that he got injured on the very first day as a professional actor.
Gerard Butler Almost Lost His Eye on His First Day as an Actor
Gerard Butler made his silver screen debut in the late 90s and was soon able to land minor roles in movies. The actor later landed his first lead role as the centuries-old vampire in Dracula 2000.
However, before he made it big in the film industry as an actor, he was looking for an opportunity to pursue his dreams and become an actor.

He took his first step towards that dream when he landed his first acting job in a play based on William Shakespeare’s Coriolanus. During an appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Mark (earlier known as Live! with Kelly and Michael), he recalled his first day at work.
“First day ever as a professional actor, it was in theatre,” he said before adding, “(The scene) was supposed to be these citizens in revolt… so (the director) puts us all together.” He shared that everyone had chisels in their hand, and they did not have their lines.

During a scene in which they were running with the stakes in their hand, one of the actors hit Butler right in the eye.
“I thought I lost my eye, and I had a black eye for at least two weeks…!” he said while recalling the incident on the talk show. And the series of the Gamer star getting injured on the set has continued to this day.
Gerard Butler Accidentally Rubbed Acid on His Face
Gerard Butler returned to the silver screen with his 2023 action thriller film Plane. The movie follows him as a pilot who forms an ally with the prisoner to save the passengers of his flight on a war-torn island, followed by an emergency landing.

During an interview with Seth Meyers, the actor recalled accidentally burning his eyes, nose, and throat with phosphoric acid while filming one of the scenes of the movie.
He shared that during the shoot, he noticed that his hands were covered in “blood and green fluid.”
And soon, it got on his face, eyes, nose, and throat after he rubbed his face. “It’s burning my face — and I mean burning,” he said on Late Night with Seth Meyers. He shared that it was intense, and he continued to feel that way for hours. The 53-year-old actor admitted that he was being “naturally clumsy” as he stated that it was great for the sequence.
