Reacher’s Alan Ritchson reveals how long he intends to play Jack Reacher in the Prime Video series.
The Reacher star Alan Ritchson has discussed how long he intends to portray Lee Child’s titular character in the Amazon Prime Video series. The Titan‘s actor revealed it could be for a while yet.
“I owe it to the audience to explore as many of these books as my body will allow, and I owe it to the people that took a shot on me when I was a huge risk for them. They have given me a real career,” he said.
Amazon and MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke echoed Ritchson’s sentiments about the length of his tenure as Reacher. “We’ll have Alan as long as he will play Jack Reacher. No end in sight for that. Hopefully, that’s for a very, very, very long time,” she said.
Reacher has been a massive hit for Prime Video. The streamer reported that it was among the most-watched series debuts ever, with 1.84 billion minutes of watch time during its debut week. The second season has also been successful, with Ritchson even more committed now to being the best possible role model on set and justifying being the first name on the call sheet.
“To me, Reacher has and always will be a fight to prove that they made the right decision,” Ritchson stated. “On set, I am always thinking, ‘How can I work hard enough to make them feel good?’ It’ll never go away. What got me ready for Reacher was all the losses that I took early on.”
Alan Ritchson Still Wants to Be Batman
Ritchson has not been reticent about his desire to become the actor who plays Bruce Wayne in the new DCU, and the actor has again thrown his hat in the ring. “I would love to play Batman,” he said. “There, I said it, okay? I’ll shout it from the rooftops: ‘I wanna be Bruce Wayne!’ Here’s the thing about Batman. You know what his superpower is?
Intelligence. Dude is the smartest superhero there is. He’s inventive, and he’s got all the gadgets, but he’s super smart. I want to be that guy. And, also, to have a cave with, like hypercars, sports cars, and awesome motorcycles.”
Reacher Season 2 is available to stream on Prime Video.
