Actor Alan Ritchson, known for his role in ‘Reacher,’ faced backlash recently from none other than the National Fraternal Order of Police after his critical remarks about law enforcement, prompting a sharp response from the organization.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 41-year-old actor had the audacity to proclaim that, “cops get away with murder all the time, and the fact that we can’t really hold them accountable for their improprieties is disturbing to me.”
The actor had previously criticized Christians supporting former President Donald Trump, stating, “Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child, and it’s unreal.”
Responding to Ritchson’s remarks, the police union swiftly defended law enforcement officers, emphasizing their dedication and sacrifice. They highlighted the inherent danger officers face daily, contrasting it with Ritchson’s work in the entertainment industry.
Leaders of the fraternal organization emphasized the real-life risks officers encounter while criticizing Ritchson’s comparatively sheltered experience on set. They underscored the disparity between the actor’s portrayal of danger and the genuine peril faced by police officers.
Richtson couldn’t resist opening his trap once more, this time to boast about his “bravery” for calling out law enforcement.
The National Fraternal Order of Police is the country’s oldest and largest law enforcement labor union. It is estimated that over 350,000 police personnel around the country are members, all of whom are committed to public safety.
And this isn’t the first time he’s been political. Besides earlier comments about police, and Trump voters who are Christians, he also blames a shooting on “white nazis” and from the video, it’s easy to see he doesn’t have a firm grasp of the situation.
In response to yet another mass shooting by a white Nazi terrorist… let’s talk about comfort.
Hopefully this is the last of it. No sense continuing to argue with someone willing to alienate more than half of his audience for anti-cop bona fides.
