In a feud nobody saw coming Deadpool star (and Twitter celebrity) Ryan Reynolds just clapped back at fellow actor Gerard Butler after the 300 star made several shady comments about Reynolds films during an interview earlier this month.

While promoting his new project, Copshop, Butler was asked about Free Guy the recent film starring Reynolds alongside Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery. Butler’s response was a bit of a surprise, and a slightly shady one at that.

“I actually don’t know what Free Guy is,” he told Uni Lad, before he’s informed that it’s Reynolds’ new project.”Oh sh** is it?” he replied, adding, “I don’t watch Ryan Reynolds movies.”

Ouch. But luckily for Butler, Reynolds didn’t take it too personally, so far not saying anything in response. But late last night he finally took to Instagram to clap back at the slight, sharing a screengrab of the headline to get people’s attention before quickly diverting them to where they can donate to a charitable cause he and Blake are supporting.

He captioned the post, “Can you believe Gerard Butler doesn’t know what Free Guy is? Also, can you believe that the challenges to democracy have never been greater and that Blake and I will match your contributions to the @aclu_nationwide and @naacp_ldf? *Order of these questions optimized for the Internet, NOT importance.”

The post gained a lot of praise from fans who are in support of Ryan and Blake’s promise to match donations made to the American Civil Liberties Union and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund up to $1,000,000 (£733,150.00).

Expertly handled, Ryan.
