When movie fanatics were calling out the action genre for being too repetitive, John Wick swooped in and basically revamped the entire scene.
What’s even more astonishing is the fact that this was director Chad Stahelski’s first rendezvous with filmmaking. He couldn’t have asked for a better actor to do this with than Keanu Reeves.
Despite the fact that Keanu Reeves has many iconic characters to his name, John Wick very quickly became the best work he has done in his career as an action star.
Fans of the franchise were sad to see John Wick go as they were not ready to say goodbye to it even after 4 installments. Everyone is wondering if there would be a fifth film against all odds and as it turns out Keanu Reeves is quite excited to return.
Chad Stahelski Talks About A Possible John Wick 5
Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves
If you are amongst the very few who haven’t got around to watching John Wick: Chapter 4, there is a spoiler ahead.
The last film of the main John Wick franchise seemingly showed that Keanu Reeves’ character had passed away as Winston and Bowery King visited John Wick’s grave which was placed next to that of his late wife’s. Clearly, John’s story has reached its finale, right? Well, maybe not.
Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Chad Stahelski stated that he and Reeves are having conversations about another installment to the franchise and that Reeves is quite excited about the idea. However, there is one tiny hiccup; they have no idea what the film should be about.
“Yeah, Keanu and I have talked. Keanu, if you ask him right now, ‘Would you do John Wick 5?’ He’d be, ‘F*ck yeah’. But then he’d look and go, ‘Well, what is it? I have no fu*king idea.’ That’s all. Believe me.
It’s not like, ‘We’re going to figure it out today.’ Like, look man, we’re going to do our other stuff for a little bit, but if I was driving in the car or if I was walking the dog and an idea hit me, within 30 seconds I’d be on the phone to Keanu and we’d be riffing.”
Hey, they can take all the time they need to come up with a story for the fifth film as long as there is still hope for more adventures of John Wick!
Keanu Reeves Won’t Mind Coming Back to the Franchise
Keanu Reeves as John Wick
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reeves was asked if he would be down to make John Wick 5 or not. And while actors usually get tired of playing the same character over and over again, it looks like Reeves has not reached that point yet.
He stated that while he doesn’t know yet, he believes in never saying never. Reeves also added that he would return to the film if and only if Stahelski was the director again.
“I don’t know, I guess I’m going to have to lean on never say never. I mean, I wouldn’t do a John Wick film without Chad Stahelski. We’d have to see what that looked like. For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace.”
Thankfully, fans don’t have to say goodbye to Reeves as John Wick just yet as he will be reprising his role in Ana de Armas’ Ballerina which will be directed by Len Wiseman and will have Stahelski as one of the producers.
