It’s time to go in a new direction with 007 for Bond 26 according to one franchise star. Famke Janssen, who played a villain opposite Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye, has even volunteered herself for the role.

In GoldenEye, the first film to feature Brosnan as James Bond, Janssen played the memorable villain Xenia Onatopp.

While speaking with Screen Rant in a new interview to promote her newest movie, Boy Kills World, Janssen shared her thoughts on where the James Bond character should be taken in the future of the franchise.

Notably, she wants to see a female 007, making it clear she’d be happy to take on the part.

Female Bond, come on! I’m available. Time for a female,” Janssen said.

Janssen does have a lot of experience with physical roles beyond playing one of the villains in GoldenEye. She served as the X-Men franchise’s Jean Grey and also played Lenore in the Taken movie trilogy. Her newest role is for a film that’s especially action-packed, Boy Kills World, a violent revenge story which sees her playing a major villain.

Officially, no casting announcements have been made for Bond 26, so it’s not impossible for a female actor to next take on the mantle.

However, the latest rumors suggest that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is up for the part.

Casting the Kraven the Hunter actor, 33, could be a sign that producers are looking for a younger actor, possibly to stick around for many years to come as part of the franchise.

It’s been reported that Taylor-Johnson was formally offered the role, but this hasn’t been confirmed, and it remains unclear when the next movie will even begin production.

“I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so,” Janssen’s GoldenEye co-star Pierce Brosnan said fo the Taylor-Johnson casting rumors.

“So, yes, I read the news about his possibilities of being a Bond, so I would definitely tip my hat to the fellow.”

No Official Updates on 007’s Future Have Been Given

Meanwhile, franchise producer Barbara Broccoli said of the future of 007 to Deadline in February, “There’s nothing I can tell you about the next Bond film…There’s nothing. Nothing is happening yet.”

Sean Connery was the original actor to play James Bond, though original author Ian Fleming wasn’t initially sold on the casting.

He was followed by George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.
