It’s been tough and scary times over the last year-and-a-half for any musical artist, including the likes of pop superstar Miley Cyrus, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cyrus had to postpone her 2020 Plastic Hearts Tour in support of her seventh studio album of the same name, but she has been out headlining several music festivals in recent months.
With all that in mind, the Wrecking Ball star shared a handwritten letter on her MileyWorld.com website, where she owned her recent past, embraced what’s coming in the near future, both personally and professionally, all while giving thanks to her devoted fans.
After sharing about how MileyWorld.com has been a place where she can connect with her fans, Cyrus showed humility and a gracious gratitude for the life she’s lived.
‘I am so thankful for your loyal support [and] great company on this ride of my life!’ the singer-songwriter, 28, wrote, before mentioning her enthusiasm for her next project.
She continued, ‘I am so grateful to never go through these transitional times alone because I have [you]!’
She goes on to ‘invite’ fans to her festival show, and make a point about how the song setlist from her recent festival gigs covers the gambit of her career and vast musical genres.
‘The setlist represents my evolution! It honors [and] celebrates every era!’ she explained, adding, ‘They are all so special to me! Mostly because you have been a part of it!’
It’s at this point that she make a reference to her next project by writing, ‘Can’t wait to create the next one for/with you! I love you forever!’
Cyrus has performed at several recent festivals and events, including the Austin City Limits Festival, Lollapalooza in Chicago, and Music Midtown in Atlanta.
And while she’s embraced the rock ‘n roll side of her musicality with Plastic Hearts, she has been performing songs from her catalogue that date back to her teen years with tunes like 7 Things and The Climb.
The Tennessee native has also incorporated a number of cover songs into the setlist that cross many musical landscapes, including Heart Of Glass by Blondie, Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) by Cher, Billy Idol’s White Wedding with the legendary rocker, Maybe by Janis Joplin, and Say Hello 2 Heaven by Temple of the Dog, which was Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell’s side project in the early 1990s.
On Friday, Cyrus shared a video showcasing her two recent shows at the Austin City Limits Festival on October 1 and 8.
Later in the early evening on Friday, she posted the setup and performance of the Joplin song Maybe at ACL, which she told the crowd she performs it ‘for me’ because it speaks to her own life.
