Sharon Stone had a serious stroke in 2001 and was hospitalized shortly after collapsing as a result of it.
The stroke was so severe that she had only a 1% chance of surviving. Stone experienced the harsh side of the Hollywood industry while battling her health concerns.
In an interview, the 65-year-old actress discussed how Hollywood shunned her and how her stroke impacted her career.
Stone revealed her health difficulties, stating that her “vertebral artery had completely ruptured,” resulting in brain bleeding for a total of 9 nine days.
The actress from Basic Instincts underwent a 7-hour surgery. Stone had no acting jobs for 7 years because it took her 7 years to fully recover from her health problems. Stone spoke about how many projects were turned away from her just because of her health issues.
At an event during her speech, the actress said,
“I recovered for seven years, and I haven’t had jobs since.
When it first happened, I didn’t want to tell anybody because you know if something goes wrong with you, you’re out.
Something went wrong with me — I’ve been out for 20 years. I haven’t had jobs. I was a very big movie star at one point in my life.”
The actress made a comeback after recuperating from her health problems.
She has appeared in films such as All I Wish, Broken Flowers, Lovelace, What About Love, and The Laundromat.

In 2021, during an interview with Oprah Winfrey Stone talked about her loss as an actress.
She explained how things were not the same for her after she faced the fatal stroke. Stone told Winfrey,
“My radiance went away. It isn’t so much your beauty as your radiance.
It’s a radiance and magnetism, a presence. It comes from health and well-being and youth.
I think it comes from confidence, too. I think that when you’re in this kind of business that you’re in, they start telling you that you don’t have it anymore and you start believing it.”
Stone also discussed how she was treated while she was healing. She claimed that many mean individuals were unkind to her.
The Casino actress added that she believes very few people understand how a stroke may affect a woman and in how many ways.
