In the latest episode of Cardi Tries , Cardi B teamed up with her “WAP” partner Megan Thee Stallion to toss around the pigskin and see if they had any athletic ability on the football field.
Cardi B had tried other sports in past episodes, including tennis, rhythmic gymnastics, fishing, and bull riding (sort of), so getting on the gridiron and breaking a sweat seemed like something she would have fun doing.
For their introduction to football, the hip-hop duo went to the performance center of the National Football League’s Los Angeles Chargers in Costa Mesa, California. At the start, Cardi B explained why she wanted to learn how to play football. “I have a son [and] I want to be one of those sports moms that be all involved in the sports activity,” she said.
The first stop on their football adventure was to meet former NFL Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, who gave them a rundown of their itinerary for the day. The women then got all their football gear on and showed off their “game face.” Cardi B wore jersey No. 1111 and Megan Thee Stallion wore No. 1.
Once on the field, the rappers started their workout by running the 40-yard dash. Gates let them know that the average 40-yard dash is about 4.6 seconds. Cardi B ended up running it in 7.93 seconds. Megan Thee Stallion ran it in 6.53 seconds.
Later, Cardi B learned how to tackle (“Y’all are gonna make me pop my silicone”) and how to catch touchdown passes and do touchdown dances (“I be doing splits and all that”).
Maybe we’ll see Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion at next year’s Super Bowl.
