“Celtics Are Getting a Bye” – ESPN Analyst Has Controversial Take on Boston Celtics Playoff Run

During the recent episode of NBA Today on ESPN, NBA analyst Zach Lowe discussed the Boston Celtics’ playoff performance this season. He mentioned that the Celtics are getting a “Bye” to the NBA Finals.

“[Tatum will have] a game where he reminds everybody why he has been the 1A on this team. …The Celtics are getting a bye to the Finals, you would be hard-pressed to find an easier road to the Finals in the entire history of the league. So it’s what happens after this series that’s ultimately gonna matter the most.” Lowe said.

Lowe believes that Jayson Tatum and the Celtics will win this year’s championship. Unlike other sports, the NBA does not give bye weeks to its top-performing teams. This means teams don’t get extra rest before the playoffs and are at risk of being eliminated early. However, the Celtics had an easier time in the playoffs, starting with a series against the Miami Heat.

They were without their top player, Jimmy Butler, and ultimately lost to the Celtics. During the round 2 series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, after the series was tied at 1-1, the Celtics won three straight games to eliminate the Cavs.

During game 3, the Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers 114-111 in a dominant third-quarter display. Boston now leads the Eastern Conference Finals playoff series against Indiana 3-0 with four games remaining.

 

In Game 3, the Boston Celtics overcame an 18-point deficit to defeat the Indiana Pacers. In the last seconds of the game, Jrue Holiday made a three-point play to secure the win. Holiday finished with nine rebounds, three assists, and 14 points.

Jayson Tatum tied his career-best for the playoffs with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. Al Horford made seven 3-pointers during the game. The 37-year-old Celtics player became the oldest player in NBA history to make seven three-pointers during the playoffs.

Tatum and Jaylen Brown are stepping up at the right time to help the team win this series. During games 1 and 2, Brown has delivered a game-winning performance.
