In the film The Ice Road, Liam Neeson actually didn’t have to do the scene of entering cold water which could freeze the body because there were stuntmen or stuntmen available. But the action actor for action films like Taken and Non-Stop is stubborn and wants to do it himself.

When asked by journalists, the 69-year-old actor initially jokingly argued that it was to show that he was truly a man, especially as he was raised as a Catholic in Ireland, who sometimes wants to prove himself impervious to suffering. However, later, he admitted, he wanted to do it himself considering the importance of that scene.

The Ice Road is set in an incredibly cold area in Manitoba, Canada. Because it was extremely cold, each scene was limited in shooting time. Neeson himself wore anti-wet clothing, but that did not reduce the danger of the extreme cold of the water.

“I don’t want to say it’s crazy, but it’s a bit scary because nature is unpredictable. Even though I entered a hole that wasn’t real, but man-made, it was still ice and freezing cold. I don’t want to reveal what really happened because I don’t want to damage the audience’s excitement when watching this film,” he explained.

“But me and Marcus Thomas, who plays my brother in the film, were trying to get out of the ice hole with a rope. We did about three takes of that scene, and then we ran into the hot tub, which was 100 meters from the hole to warm up,” added Neeson.

Liam Neeson also said that when doing this scene, he imagined the victims of the Titanic cruise ship that sank. “I have to admit it’s a little scary. When I’m under the water, I remember the victims of the Titanic. It’s hard to shake the memory. They must have lost their lives quickly. The incredibly cold water can make you die in less than a minute.” he explained.

The film “The Ice Road” highlights the adventures of a long-distance truck driver who races against time through melting ice-covered roads to rescue a group of trapped miners. The film, which was released by Netflix last June 25, also stars Amber Midthunder and Laurence Fishburne
