The F-35C Lightning II is a variant of the F-35 fighter jet designed for carrier operations.
The U.S. Navy has a total of 10 F-35C aircraft currently assigned to the Navy’s first F-35C squadron, VMFA-314, which is based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California.
The squadron is currently conducting operational testing and evaluation on the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), with plans to deploy more F-35Cs on other aircraft carriers in the future.
