It’s the beginning of a brand-new week, and we already have a new ~celeb x coronavirus~ drama to dive into. This time around, it’s all to do with Cardi B, an $88,000 purse, and a pretty intense backlash.

It all started on Sunday, when Cardi tweeted asking her followers if she should splurge on a new purse. I think we can all agree that the price tag was quite eye-watering…

But, as you can probably guess, the tweet didn’t sit well with a lot of people, especially considering we’re currently in a global pandemic and economic crisis that has seen many struggling financially.

And for some, it reminded them of how other celebrities, like the Kardashians, have “flaunted money and wealth” over the last few months.

But Cardi wasn’t about to take the criticism lying down and immediately responded, posting screenshots reminding people that she’d been donating to various COVID relief causes throughout the year.
